  • Added interconnection coupler, plug connector and appliance outlet to the Standard, along with different combination setup. Added interconnection parts definition. 
  • Removed some terminal definition.
  • Clarification of requirements for non-standardized appliance couplers and considering end-use condition. 
  • Part of the requirement of couplers complying with Standard sheets is moved from IEC 60320-1 to IEC 60320-3. (incl. countersunk requirement) 
  • Test samples shall be conditioned for more than 168 h before testing and more sets of samples are required for testing. (Cl. 5.3, Annex C) 
  • Allowed rated currents to be in ranges with maximum limit of 16 A (instead of set value, e.g., 0.2 A, 2.5 A, 6 A, etc). (Cl. 6.2)

  • Added dehumidifiers without motor compressors and thermoelectric (e.g., Peltier element) heat pumps to the scope as well as increasing maximum rated voltage to 300 V for single phase appliances. (Cl. 1)
  • Allow installation instruction specified length for piping less than 5 m or greater than 7.5 m to be used in split units.

Australian modifications to the IEC are as follows:

  • Replacement of IEC 62368-1 with AS/NZS 62368.1 and addition of AS/NZS 11801.1:2019 to normative references list.
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices complying with limited power source requirements of Annex Q of AS/NZS 62368.1 are excluded from the scope of AS 62368.3.
  • Maximum voltage and current parameters from AS/CA S008 or AS 11801.1 added to scope of DC power transfer interconnection to building wiring. (Cl. 5.3.2)- Compliance during the evaluation of the requirement for the PSE (Cl. 5.4.1) is verified 3 seconds after the single fault condition is introduced.
